Yud Aleph Nissan, (י”א ניסן) the 11th day of the month of Nissan in the Hebrew Calendar, is the birthday of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneeerson, the leader of the CHABAD dynasty of Chassidim. It continues to be celebrated to this day by his followers as a festival. This day is used to realize the Rebbe’s vision of a united and proud Jewish people. It is to this end that Chabad Lubavitch of Florida is holding its eighth annual Mitzvah Tank Parade. A Mitzvah tank is a vehicle utilized by Chabad Lubavitch Chassidim as a mobile “educational and outreach center” and “mini-synagogue” to reach out to Jews that are not yet aware of their heritage or having trouble finding the means and place to express it. Mitzvah tanks have been commonplace on the streets of New York City since 1974. Today they are found all over the globe in countries where Chabad is active. The word Mitzvah is Hebrew for a “commandment” of the Torah, but also carries with it the connotation of a good deed that connects one to his Creator. Lubavitchers recognizes the difficulties that have to be overcome in battling the negative forces which have unfortunately overcome so many Jews – through deliberate missionary efforts, assimilation and ignorance. These vehicles are utilized as tanks to advance the “campaigns” and battles fought to spread the teachings of Judaism. The Rebbe designed and encouraged the strategy behind the Mitzvah tank “campaigns”. NUU!!!!! CLICK HERE to come join us on our Mivtzoim!
